How it works

  1. Upload your Procreate brush. Drop the .brush / .brushset file into the converter. Multi-brush files are supported.
  2. Pick GIMP as the target. You can select several targets at once and get one download per format.
  3. Download and install. Copy the file into GIMP's brushes folder (Edit › Preferences › Folders › Brushes shows where it is), then click the refresh button in the Brushes dialog.

What carries over

From Procreate: Shape and grain images, stroke path settings (spacing, jitter), grain behaviour, and Apple Pencil pressure/tilt dynamics.

Writing to GIMP: Bitmap tips are written as native .gbr brushes at their intended size; computed round and square tips become .vbr, GIMP's editable parametric format, so hardness, roundness and angle stay adjustable. GIMP brush files hold no pressure dynamics or grain texture — GIMP keeps dynamics in its own Paint Dynamics presets — and the result screen names anything left behind.

Common questions

Will the brush feel the same in GIMP? Yes. Brushfactory maps your brush directly to native GIMP settings. Strokes are never rasterized or estimated. If a setting has no exact equivalent in GIMP, the result screen lists the adjustments.
Is it free? A free account gets you monthly conversions at no cost; Pro removes the limits and adds batch conversion.
What happens to your files? Uploads are converted in memory and deleted immediately. Your brushes remain private.
How do you use Procreate brushes in GIMP? GIMP cannot open .brush files, so the brush needs converting first. Upload the .brush file, download the converted .gbr, and import it the way GIMP imports its own brushes.
Can .brush files be imported into GIMP directly? No. GIMP does not read .brush — converting to .gbr produces a file it imports natively.
